To say 2020 has been a terrible year would be an understatement in the extreme. It has created a challenging landscape for many businesses and ventures in Wales and beyond.
These challenges however pale in to insignificance compared to the impact Covid-19 has had on the health and wellbeing of the Welsh public. At the time of writing 3,383 people in Wales have lost their lives to this terrible disease and countless others have survived it with, in some cases, life changing physical effects.
Securing sufficient capital to launch a full service in a sector that has been hit hard by the pandemic has been a tough ask. The ever changing financial situation of media companies has meant a lot of belt tightening has taken place.
It is now a fact of life that the future funding models for news and media services have to change. That is why we are launching a pilot service in January 2021 in the run up to a substantive service launch in the run up to the Welsh general election in May 2021.
We want to build a base of support who will be willing to sign up to a monthly subscription that will cost less than two cups of takeaway coffee. As our subscription base grows so will our offering.
